Ryan's Quest just celebrated the success of Ryan's Quest Fest 2!  Nearly 1,500 people were in attendance at this festival full of great entertainment, good food, & fond memories!  New additions to this year's event were a guest appearance by NFL Pro-Bowler, Jesse Armstead, from the NY Giants and a surprise landing of the New Jersey State Police Helicopter;  in addition to our annual gift auction, balloon raffle, K9 dog demo, pony rides, face painting & many more activities for the children.

We would like to thank our sponsor, Roma Bank, for supporting us in our mission to fight Duchenne muscular dystrophy and for their generosity.

We would also like to thank the vendors and entertainers who donated either their services or goods to make the Fest so successful; because of your kind and generous donations and the support of all who were in attendance, we were able to raise nearly $40,000 for Duchenne research!  We hope that you will all join us again next year!

The Fest was just the beginning of our fundraising endeavors!  We have great things planned for the summer and upcoming fall.

63,360 Quarters=$15, 840 for Ryan's Quest

We proudly announce the success of the Crockett Middle School's Quarters for a Cause campaign.  Since September, students at Crockett conducted a coin collection in hopes to change these coins into 63, 360 quarters....and change the lives of boys living with Duchenne...and THEY DID IT!
We would like to thank each student for their participation and dedication to this project.  Your donation WILL make a difference in our fight to end Duchenne.  We continue to be amazed at how you have taken on this cause as your own.  Thank you for support and all of your hard work.
We would also like to thank Principal Panfilli for her dedication to this project and Barbara Costantino for directing this campaign.  Your students continue to inspire us and many others within our community.  This is truly a reflection of the mission and vision you have created for Ryan's Quest in your school.
Lastly, we must thank Bridget Dolittle (Student Council President), Amanda Foster, Chelsea Shaner, Chris Palmer, Enzo Esposito, & Michael John for proposing this idea & inspiring their fellow classmates to join.  You should be very proud of your efforts!

Tri'n 4 Ryan at the NJ State Triathlon

We swam, we biked, we ran...we were the largest team to compete in this race!  Ninety members strong, the Ryan's Quest triathlon team commanded the course with handprints of hope printed on our shirts and  hellos & high fives exchanged as we passed another member. Some of us may have competed to gain a personal accomplishment as others competed to try something new...but one thing we all had in mind on race day was to beat the fiercest competitor of all...DMD!

With the combined efforts of our sponsors -(New Balance of Princeton, Hamilton Fitness Center, Bicycle Pro, & Power Bar), the competitors and volunteers we ran a great race & raised nearly $30,000 for research!  Thank you all for your continued support.

RYAN'S QUEST GOLF OUTING

This first annual golf outing for Ryan's Quest was more than just a day of fun on the greens; it was also a day that raised some much needed "green" for DMD research. Participants had the opportunity to play in some fun contests, relaxed and played a round of golf, and then ended their day with a delicious dinner, cocktails and door prizes.  We would like to thank Mercer Oaks golf course for their great service in hosting the outing and all of the participants, sponsors, & volunteers who were instrumental in the day's success. In addition, a special thanks must be made to Ryan's grandfather, Pasquale Locane for organizing this event along with Ryan's uncles Dave Marchiselli & Jay Meier, and family friends Vincent Colletti, Nick Gregorio, & Rob Gray.

RYAN'S CUP HOCKEY GAME

Hamilton Firefighters & Hamilton Police suited up for the 1st ever Ryan's Cup Hockey Game.  The excitement of this event filled the Sovereign Bank Arena and the support of the community filled our hearts.  The game began with Ryan dropping the puck and ended with the Hamilton Firefighters clinching the cup with a 4-3 score .  This event was a great success and a lot of fun.  We would like to send out a special thank you to Kevin McElroy from the Hamilton Firefighters and Mark Watson of the Hamilton Police Department for organizing this event.  We would also like to thank all of the sponsors who contributed to Ryan's Cup.

Family members, friends, colleagues, politicians, and acquaintances gathered for an evening of hope and discovery.which turned out to be an evening of success and a great time! Guests enjoyed delicious food provided by the staff of Mercer Oaks Ballroom in West Windsor, NJ, danced the night away to the live music of the Meg Hanson Band, and were inspired by the eloquent and informative speeches given by Congressman Christopher Smith and the founder of Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, Mrs. Pat Furlong. The silent auction became addictive as guests fought bid after bid to win some great prizes. It was an evening to remember raising a remarkable $20,000 for DMD research. Thank you to all who attended for your generosity, graciousness and support.

Comedy for A Cure

Comedian, Mike Marino brought tears of laughter to our eyes with his performance in the 1st ever Comedy for a Cure event!  His razor-sharp tongue and brutally honest skits about growing up Italian, made a lasting impression on all who attended.  Massimo's Restaurant of Hamilton followed the "Italian Theme" by serving up the traditional favorites at the post event reception.  Thank you to all of the event sponsors for your support and to the YBLC of the Mercer County Chamber of Commerce for offering your assistance in making this event a success!

2nd Annual Sanford-Brown Institute Walkathon

Students and staff members of the Sanford Brown Institute in Iselin, NJ surely went the distance to end Duchenne in the 2nd Annual Walkathon to benefit Ryan's Quest.  Students from this institution dedicated many hours over the past year to fund-raise for our cause through bake sales, massage sessions, telethons & donation collections.  The walkathon furthered their efforts by raising the much needed awareness and funding for DMD.  We continue to be amazed at the dedication displayed by this group of outstanding individuals. Thank you all for your continued support!

Climb to Cure Duchenne

In August 2009, we were proud to join a journey that knows no limits...a climb of one of the nation's largest mountain ranges, Mt. Rainier in Washington State.  The twin goals of this climb were to raise awareness and funds to support research. Each climber was responsible for raising $14,410 dollars by the August climb date; with each dollar representing one foot of the mountain's total elevation.  Ryan's Dad, David Schultz, joined forces with, a California based non profit organization for DMD by representing Ryan's Quest. Thanks to supporters like you, we reached and exceeded our organization's goal by raising over $15,000!

For a second time, police officers and firefighters teamed up for one great cause...to strike out Duchenne muscular dystrophy at our annual softball tournament. Officials from all over New Jersey participated in this game of "hitting for hope" to help find a cure.  In the end, the New Jersey Department of Corrections came out on top!  A special thanks to the Young Family for organizing and hosting this event.

JERRY BLAVAT DANCE
A night of swinging to the oldies was a great way to bring in some new funds for Duchenne research!  Guests danced their hearts away with the live entertainment of the "Geator with the Heator" aka Jerry Blavat.   Many warm thanks to Ryan's grandparents, Angela & Pat Locane and the committee for all of your hard work.  This event may have been an "oldie...but it sure was a goodie"!

One GIANT step for Ryan's Quest

Ryan’s Quest is happy to announce their most profitable fund raiser since the inception of the organization.  NFL Pro-bowler and former NY Giant, Jessie Armstead along with co-owner of Hamilton Honda, Michael Saporito sponsored this knock-out event held last month at the Mercer Oaks Golf course in West Windsor, NJ.  Each of the two courses were filled with golfers excited for the day’s events. Two hundred twenty guests not only played an amazing round; but also the had opportunity to meet, take pictures with and receive autographs from several former and current NFL players including NY Giants; Jessie Armstead, Antonio Pierce, Rodney Hampton, Jonathan Goff, Chase Blackburn, Bryan Kehl and Philadelphia Eagle, Jeremiah Trotter,.

Following the day on the greens, was a dinner reception as well as a live and silent auction that would most certainly never be forgotten. Attendants enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres. and live entertainment by Edgar & Friends. Speeches were given by Ryan's parents, Maria & David Schultz, along with his grandfather, Pasquale Locane, on behalf of Ryan and Ryan's Quest to raise awareness about Duchenne muscular dystrophy.  A video slideshow was also shown highlighting the growth and efforts of the organization since its establishment in March of 2008.  Perhaps the most heartwarming and exciting highlight was the announcement at the very end of the video stating that over a half of a million dollars has been raised by Ryan’s Quest to help fight Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

The silent and live auctions proved to be a huge success, especially when Jessie Armstead got involved and ran the show! Moved by the speeches given on behalf of Ryan and the thousands of other boys affected by DMD all around the world, Jessie moved the crowd to make some money.  Jeremiah Trotter and Eli Manning autographed memorabilia and two sets of Coaches Club NY Giants tickets were auctioned off, getting the crowd pumped up and raising thousands of dollars for the cause!

With the support and generosity of all of the sponsors, golfers, an outstanding committee, and of course the official event sponsors, Jessie Armstead, Michael Saporito, & Hamilton Honda, and all of the NFL players, Ryan's Quest raised over $50,000 for research!  Thank you so much to everyone involved from Ryan's Quest and from all the other young men and families who are affected by this disease.
